SEISMEC at the Industry 5.0 Community of Practice (CoP 5.0) plenary session
On October 16, 2024, the Industry 5.0 Community of Practice held its plenary session in Brussels, and the SEISMEC project grabbed the opportunity to participate, contributing to critical discussions on the future of digital tool usage and the thoughtful planning required for the years ahead.
The session was divided into two parts. First, occurred a high-level political discussion on “The Role of Industry 5.0 in Enhancing the Long-Term Competitiveness of EU Industries,” followed by a collaborative session. The second part allowed members to have an engaging discussion on 2025’s priorities, building on ideas from the final report. In this regard, representing the SEISMEC project, Jason Pridmore from Erasmus University Rotterdam and Steven Dhondt from TNO joined the productive discussions focused on sharing best practices and charting pathways to achieve Industry 5.0 objectives.
A few words about the CoP 5.0
Directorate RTD.E established Industry 5.0 Community of Practice (CoP 5.0) in November 2023 with the aim to bring together a broad range of European innovation ecosystem stakeholders (SMEs, Large Companies, Public/Private/ Research Organisations, National/Regional Organisations, Universities, Civil Society Organisations, Clusters, Investors, Horizon EU projects and others) to share good practices, co-create actions to implement Industry 5.0, contribute to the New European Innovation Agenda (NEIA) implementation, and provide a platform for members to network and establish new collaborations.
A value proposition for stakeholders at the local, regional, national, and European levels will be created to promote and apply Industry 5.0 principles and practices effectively. Finally, it will explore new ways to facilitate the potential for stakeholders’ ideas exchange, foster synergies, and receive support in transforming traditional business models into more impactful ones. Currently, the board of stakeholders counts more than 170 members, whereas most SEISMEC partners are also proud members.
