BRIDGES 5.0 and SEISMEC team visits Infineon and Arctur – collaboration with human-centric impact
On 20–21 January, members of the BRIDGES 5.0 team joined SEISMEC partners for two field visits that brought ongoing collaboration into a real-world context. On Tuesday, Jason Pridmore, Steven Dhondt, Jan Laurissijssen, and Virginia Bianchi visited the Infineon Technologies Austria AG pilot site together with colleagues from BRIDGES 5.0. The Infineon team guided the group through the company’s history, its market leadership in power systems and IoT, and a hands-on walkthrough of the production cycle. The visit offered insights not only into technical excellence, but also into how human-centric perspectives are embedded in highly advanced industrial environments.

The visit added depth to months of close collaboration between Infineon and SEISMEC, particularly around the potential impact on workers. Discussions focused on how personalised learning and tailored skill development can support more effective and engaging professional growth. Such approaches can strengthen workers’ sense of ownership over their development, increasing motivation while aligning organisational needs with individual capabilities. The experience highlighted how Industry 5.0 principles can take shape in practice, where technological innovation and human development evolve together.

On Wednesday, the SEISMEC team composed of Jason Pridmore, Jan Laurissijssen, and Virginia Bianchi travelled to Slovenia to visit the FLOWS Zeleni kras pilot, led by Arctur in collaboration with Green Karst (Zeleni kras), a regional tourism destination. This pilot aims to transform tourism management through human-centric digital innovation, supporting more sustainable and resilient practices in a culturally and ecologically sensitive area. Highlights of the visit included an inspiring museum experience and exploration of local hiking trails, enhanced by fully functioning sensor systems that underpin the pilot’s strategy. Meaningful exchanges with the pilot representatives helped shape a shared vision for future development and long-term impact. We are grateful for the warm welcome and open dialogue, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration, turning innovation into lasting, human-centred value.
