SEISMEC’s Design Workshop in San Sebastian

The SEISMEC project aims to offer practical options for implementing human-centric approaches within the workplace to social partners. Central to this objective is our collaboration with social partners to foster a shared understanding. In this regard, a series of structured workshops will be scheduled over the course of the project’s implementation with social partners and other stakeholders.

The first of these, a Design Workshop, was scheduled for the project’s early stages. This workshop aimed to introduce SEISMEC’s project requirements, including an evaluation framework designed to assess the project’s outcomes and provide participants with a structured foundation for engagement. In the upcoming months, the project will organise annual stakeholder events to review progress and facilitate ongoing discussion of the results. At the project’s conclusion, key insights will be consolidated in a comprehensive policy paper.

In this regard, the Design Workshop was held from October 1st to 3rd, 2024, at Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain, in the framework of the EUWIN CONFERENCE “The Future of Workplace Innovation” in collaboration with the Bridges 5.0 project. The workshop brought together twenty-six participants from nine countries representing diverse sectors, including trade unions, companies, research institutions, and network partners.

Dalius Serafinas and Reda Cimmperman from our Lithuanian partner, LSS, led the workshop, driving an active exchange of ideas and a lively discussion on the merits of the SEISMEC CAPS framework, providing suggestions to policymakers, companies and stakeholders. The outcomes of the Design Workshop are documented in an initial report, which will be revised and expanded in future workshops as additional insights emerge. Future workshops will focus on assessing the impact of SEISMEC’s research results on social partner’s interests. Discussions will focus on the intersection of human-centric improvements, work dimensions, and human needs, aiming to determine the extent to which stakeholder interests are safeguarded through a “systems check” approach.
