SEISMEC in action: From major conferences to impactful workshops

It has been a year since the SEISMEC project embarked on its mission to pioneer the transition towards a human-centric industry! Over the past year, our consortium partners have joined forces in a collective effort aiming to demonstrate the concept of human-centricity across a wide array of industry sectors, scales and sociotechnical contexts. The partners have participated in events to boost the project’s visibility and impact and spread the word about the project and its initial results.

A great year unfolded for the SEISMEC project since, from its outset, the partners strived to participate in significant events, increasing the project’s visibility and advancing from impactful collaborations. Speaking of numbers, the SEISMEC project participated in 24 events during 2024!

Let us unfold the exhaustive list of the events that SEISMEC participated in in 2024, including seventeen conferences and six workshops/meetings.

SEISMEC’s opening conference was at Work Design for Success: Innovative Research and Leading-Edge Practice, followed by a mini-symposium on the project’s Kick-off meeting, the SEISMEC: Better work, better workplaces.

Six conferences later (European Robotics Forum 2024, EU Strategy Days Brussels, TechTextil 2024, Enhancing Skills for a Fair and Inclusive Transition – Hannover Messe, Surveillance Futures conference, Science Communication in the Age of Artificial Intelligence), one meeting (PROSPECTS 5.0 – From Industry 4.0 to 5.0: Theory vs. practice) and one workshop (Michelin Technodays) we landed at the CESI Summer Days 2024. The CESI Summer Days took place in the middle of summer, marking a remarkable event dedicated to exploring the intersection of new technologies, AI and gender equality in the workplace. SEISMEC also participated at the Innohealth Forum 2024, “Health Tech for Humanity”! The two-day hybrid event on Health Technologies took place from September 20 to 21 in Larissa, Greece, and was organised by JOIST Innovation Park and Health Hub. The InnoHealth Forum 2024 aimed to showcase and promote innovative health technology solutions designed to benefit humanity, focusing on leveraging these advancements through networking and collaboration.

SEISMEC highlighted its commitment to a human-centric approach through three insightful presentations. These covered key themes such as Ensuring Human Centric Work within Health Innovations, The Human-centric Revolution in Technological Innovation, and Building Trust in AI: Advancing Reliable Healthcare Systems.

In October, another significant event took place, with SEISMEC actively present. The Industry 5.0 Community of Practice held its plenary session in Brussels, and SEISMEC had the opportunity to engage in pivotal conversations about the future adoption of digital tools and the strategic planning essential for the years to come.

Additionally, in October, as part of the EUWIN Conference, SEISMEC organised a Design Workshop in San Sebastian, Spain, attracting much attention. The workshop introduced SEISMEC’s project requirements, including an evaluation framework to assess outcomes and offer participants a structured foundation for engagement. Find all the details here!
